2003
Pynhoi Tang (low vision)- Jowai, finished Cl VIII from JSS, Cl X through NOS, graduated from St. Mary’s College, Shillong. Completed one year at the Indian Institute of Social Entrepreneurship, Kerela, for persons with visual impairment and other disabilities.
Now she is Programme Coordinator of Reach Out Programme recently launched (April 2010) by BS starting with some districts in Jaintia Hills.
Batihun Mary Khongmawloh (locomotor) – Pynursla. One of the first students of JSS. She followed the same academic road like Pynhoi. After graduation Mary was employed by BS as Warden of the Boys’ Hostel in the campus and later till now staff of Legal Awareness Cell (LAC) of BS. She is also President of Association of Challenged People (ACP), Meghalaya and is creative and dynamic in mobilizing Person With Disability (PWDs) in the State for advocacy purposes.
The team of young PWDs based in BS is instrumental for organizing units of the ACP in Meghalaya.
2005
Leonard Kleng (low vision) – Nongpoh, and Joanes Khongwir (visually impaired) - Pynursla completed MBOSE SSLC Examination and +2 from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong. At present both are on jobs whilst pursuing higher education.
2006
Richard Lamin – Jaintia Hills, Cornelius Lyngdoh - Umphyrnai, Benistar Kharpor - Laitkor. All three boys are totally blind and now in their 3rd year BA. Richard is on English major and the other two is in History major. They reside in the new hostel of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong.
Benistar is a good musician singer and song writer. Cornelius and Richard were the first members of the JSS band and members of JSS XI Cricket team.
2007
Krialda Sylliang (blind) - Umsning, Elkin Rynniaw – Nongstoin and Shwalet Tang (low vision) - Jowai, Mithun Shadap (orthopaedic) – Jaintia Hills passed SSLC Examination of MBOSE.
Happy Mary (low vision) – Sonapahar, passed Cl X NOS. The two girls Happy Mary and Krialda completed Cl XII from St. Mary’s College. They are now in a two year training course - Diploma in Special Education at Mountfort Centre for Education, Garo Hills. Happy Mary specializes in Hearing Impairment and Krialda in Visual Impairment. It is hoped that they will join the Shanti Onglus Mawbynna, Jaintia Hills team
Elkin is pursuing BA II year majoring in English in Shillong College. In addition to the support from BS he tries to supplement his income by low skill cultivation. Elkin is enthusiastic in supporting fund raising events of the school. Shwalet is also doing BA in St. Edmund’s College. He is also part of the JSS XI Cricket team. Active in the ACP activities.
2008
Bertina Lyngdoh - Sumer, Bhabiang Shylla – Jowai, passed SSLC MBOSE. At present they have just gone into BA in St. Mary’s College. Bernadette Kharmawphlang (no disability) joined Cl X in 2007 and passed SSLC in 2008.
Melip Sangma (blind) – Garo Hills joined JSS after primary education in Tura. After passing cl VIII, she joined NOS stream and has now completed Cl X. She is active member of the ACP and part time employee of BS for advocacy and also doing the BPP programme of IGNOU
2009
Seoris Kyndeit (blind) - Jowai, Hermies Daw (blind) – Jaintia Hills, Pitor Pertin (blind) – Arunachal Pradesh, Collin Bay (low vision) – Ri Bhoi District, Melvorene Lyngdoh - Umpling and Benjamin Blah - Jaiaw. These passed SSLC MBOSE Examinations in 2009. Benjamin has slight learning difficulties which he overcame and passed SSLC in one attempt. He is persuing higher education and so is Melvorene supported by their own families. Petor is in College back home. Seoris, Hermies and Colin have taken up the basic preparatory programme of IGNOU which should put them into graduate course only under 6 months hence Seoris is also under a special training in office management conducted by the National Federation of the Blind branch in Guahati, Assam.
2010
Shalandaka Syndong (blind) – Wahiajer, is now in Cl XI of Society for the Welfare of the Disabled Inclusive Higher Secondary School, Rahul Chetri - Kohima, Petrus Kharmawphlang - Umpling, Barihun Nongrum - Smit have move into academic programme.
The following students passed Cl VIII from JSS and are now doing either NOS adult vocational training or other rehabilitative programmes. Some have gone back to the villages supporting themselves through livelihoods finance by the J.J. O’Dwyer Revolving Fund of BS.
