
Arts and Craft workshop cum exhibition for the physically challenged.
Organized by Directorate of Arts and culture: Meghalaya
Dates: 18th – 20th August 2010
Venue: State Central Library compound
The Directorate sponsored Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand) for the raw materials. It also provided remuneration for the 10 students who participated and for 2 teachers.
JSS students with visual, hearing, intellectual and locomotor impairment participated at the workshop in painting paper mache, making ceremic pots, card and bookmark making. The exhibition cum sale of prepared items in the school yielded about Rs.5,000/- (Rupees five thousand).

Names of teachers- Barbara Syiem, Lamshai Tham, Navarun Das. They were assisted by Habung Omo (Arunachal Pradesh) and R.H.Khuluo (Manipur) – DSE trainees from Montford Centre for education, Tura. Maya Chakraborty from Australia, a student of Fine arts and Visual arts from Monash University, who is on a three-month volunteer service at that school.
All India Flag Day for the Blind

This years fund raising activity through sale of flags was spread over educational institutions, religious group, social organizations, banks, etc in Shillong.
on behalf of the management, staff, pupils of JSS and Bethany Society, the Principal expresses her joy and gratitude at the willing response from most of the abovementioned.
September 14th September, 2010 – A special function was held in the Bethany Complex to gather together donors, sponsors and friends. The function was aimed at show-casing abilities and achievements of visually impaired students and young people under the care of Bethany Society. It was graced by the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister B.M. Lanong, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs. The function was attended by members of the various managing committees and Board, representatives: from schools, colleges – principals, teachers, students, churches, Central Puja Committee and Gudwara Committee social organizations, Meghalaya Cricket Association and friends.
